Discrete Math - Financial Literacy PBL
Panel Date: May 3rd
Seniors in high schools have a few options as they approach graduation. Some will attend community college or four-year universities, others will attend trade school, and quite a few will join the workforce. Every Adams12 student was exposed to the PFL standards in middle school and their freshmen year of high school. However, many 12 to 14 year olds have little to no buy-in when it comes to learning about economics and personal financing. This PBL will tackle what our workforce-ready seniors already know about money, as well as what they need to pay attention to when it comes to money in order to successfully file taxes, apply for loans, acquire “credit”, and make smart decisions about how they spend and save their money in general. Each group will present on a different topic about financial literacy, and their ultimate goal is to create a lesson plan that can be used to prepare all future seniors with what to they need to plan for and expect after high school.
